The Rule of St. Benedict calls hospitality "the way we come out of ourselves. It is the first step toward dismantling the barriers of the world." In the case of photographers Michelle and Brandon Horn, it's also the first step toward creating a warm, personal, and unforgettable client experience--this Georgia-based husband and wife team embodies Southern hospitality.
Michelle and Brandon were both seriously dating other people when they first met at their parish. Brandon was the new youth minister looking for volunteers to help out with the high schoolers, and Michelle was preparing for a job transfer to the area. The Holy Spirit intervened as ministry brought them closer, and on their one-year dating anniversary, Brandon got down on one knee before the tabernacle.
The Horns have been married, and shooting weddings together nationally, for the past seven years, and their roots in ministering to others are evident in the way they run their business. Consultations with engaged couples are held with wine, cheese, and chocolate in Brandon and Michelle's home, the Horns interact frequently with their couples throughout the wedding planning process to answer questions, and notably, they ask questions back, in a way that invites the stories behind stories. For a couple who requests photos with a cherished grandparent, for instance, Michelle and Brandon make a special effort to recognize other special family relationships and capture them in their photos. And after the wedding, newlyweds are invited to the Horns' home once again for a meal and to view their image gallery in full for the first time.
Page through their blog--you'll most likely get sucked right in, like we did--and you'll find testimonies from brides who say they were overjoyed to call their photographers friends by day of their weddings and who received countless compliments on Michelle and Brandon from their guests. The site is also rich with glimpses of the Horns' love story, their Catholic faith, reflections on authentic beauty, and advice from bride-to-bride and from two photographers to others. Their naturally lit, journalistic images possess a gorgeous effortlessness that belies true creativity and technical expertise. All of it adds up to a total fulfillment of the Horns' mission to make manifest the glory of God through human love.
From Michelle + Brandon: We are dedicated to capturing moments of God’s glory through photography. We have been blessed with the gifts and talents to capture the true beauty that exists in the heart. It is in those moments of joy that we see and experience a glimpse of the amazing grace to come. We want to capture the beautiful heart and joy that only you posses. The moments that make your heart dance and love fill the air. With God’s Grace we will capture his glory in you! “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31
