Joy Foster and Mary Dorhauer first met at a wedding reception and combined their past event coordination experience to create their joyful, vibrant, and dedicated wedding planning business in 2018.
Inspired by Sts. Benedict and Meinrad’s spirits of hospitality and St. Francis of Assisi’s dedication to building up Christ’s church, Joy and Mary create a customized novena for each of their couples and invite friends and family to join in the prayer, concluding with Day 9 on the wedding morning.
From Joy and Mary:
Weddings are a chance to share in a slice of someone else’s happiness, even if in a small way. Watching the bittersweet moments as fathers tearfully embrace their daughters one last time before her husband-to-be takes her hand. Smiling at the triumphant grins as the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. exit the church for the first time. Witnessing families come together. Most of all, the moment during a Nuptial Mass when the priest elevates the Holy Eucharist, with the eyes of the bride and groom upon Him, the Body of Christ, while we know Jesus is looking down with such love for these two people who have just become one. It gives us goosebumps every time!
Our business is centered around our Catholic faith, especially with our detailed work on assisting couples with liturgical planning. Our love of the liturgy and of the beauty of marriage inspires us to share that love with our clients and their families. We see Something Blue as a ministry, in addition to a business.
