Matthew Lomanno first picked up a camera as a new father in 2004, sharing family photos with out-of-state family and friends. Compliments on the images, and encouragement to further pursue photography, gradually transformed Matthew’s hobby with a point-and-shoot to more intensive craft and education. He began taking small jobs and upgrading his equipment over the next several years, most notably with shoots for his diocesan publications, and quit his job to take on photography full-time.

Having started his career as an event photographer for his diocese’s special liturgies and functions, Matthew developed a keen documentary-style eye for capturing moments as they unfold, which extends to the experience his wedding clients can expect: natural, unforced images, captured in a discreet and mindful manner. “In a significant way, my Catholic faith guides what I photograph,” says Matthew. “My job…is to treat my subjects fairly and honestly while making beautiful, compelling photographs that engages my audience aesthetically and, if possible, spiritually.”

From Matthew:

Our Catholic faith…is the gateway to the sacrament and vocation of marriage--and ultimately to our final destination of Heaven! This allows us [as wedding vendors] a certain perspective or vision of the day that includes understanding both the solemnity and the joyfulness of the preparations, the ceremony, and the celebration. My couples are relaxed and joyful, as are their family and friends. Being surrounded by that energy throughout a long wedding day sustains me.
